VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - BACK TRANSLATION PROOFREADER

Type/Age: Individuals / 21 years or older.

Description: Back Translation volunteers compare the original print material with a Braille copy that has been translated back into English. The purpose is to spot any differences (spelling, punctuation, etc.) between the two.

Requirements: Strong proofreading skills and experience required. Ability to read standard print English. Ability to recognize errors in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, word division, spacing, omissions, content, and consistency of format. Some knowledge of braille required.

Location: VSVH Office.

Time Commitment: 4-5 hours per week, during VSVH office hours. This is an on-going and long-term commitment.

Training: On-site.

Benefits: Site is also on major bus lines and is handicapped accessible.
